SPRY'S AIR SERIES FOR CABLE COMPLEMENTS PSICABLE SERVICES TO PROVIDE
SIMPLE INTERNET ACCESS
March 21, 1994 -- Arlington, VA -- SPRY, Inc. and Performance Systems
International, Inc. (PSI) today announced that PSI will resell a
unique cable-compatible version of SPRY's AIR Series as the front-end
software for its PSICable services that provide Internet access using
cable-TV (CATV) facilities. The initial services announced last week
are available on the Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) in Cambridge, Mass.
SPRY's AIR Series for Cable will work with PSICable for individuals as
well as small to large organizations.
PSI offers personal and corporate users the ability to harness popular
Internet resources through cost-effective and powerful broadband CATV
connections - a superior access method for the growing number of
graphical and multi-media applications now available. Cable is wide-
spread in its availability, yet offers bandwidth at prices more suited
to the home information worker and even small businesses.
SPRY's AIR Series for Cable includes Telnet, Network File Manager (ftp),
AIR Mail, AIR News, AIR Gopher, AIR Mosaic, [Editor's Note: For more
information on the recent partnership between SPRY and NCSA,
please refer to the press release titled, "SPRY Adds NCSA Mosaic to the
AIR Series, TCP/IP Applications for Windows"] and WinSock
TCP/IP transports from Microsoft and Novell. The applications
from the AIR Series for Cable will enable customers to access the
Internet for business applications that include electronic mail for
technical support, order status inquiries, newsletters and file transfer
for posting documents.
"SPRY's offering of applications like Mosaic are providing users
with an easy interface to navigate the Internet on the popular Windows
platform. PSICable will provide the needed broadband platform to support
these applications with the performance that optimizes their appeal," stated
Stephen Schoffstall, PSI's director of sales.
"We have partnered with PSI because they have the same Internet vision as
SPRY," said Kevin Britt, business development
manager of SPRY. "PSI is not only providing a solution today
by giving users Internet access over public and dedicated phone lines, but
they are also looking towards the future by attaching homes and businesses to
the Internet via cable."
SPRY, Inc., founded in 1987 and headquartered in Seattle, WA, is the
leading provider of transport independent TCP/IP applications for PC to
UNIX, Mainframe and Internet connectivity. They can be reached at

integration of local area networks into PSINet and the Internet.
